This photograph was taken by Margaret Tomlinson for the National Buildings Record, a body established to record historic buildings threatened by destruction from aerial bombing.
Numbers 82 and 83 St Aldate's Street in Oxford, forming two houses and shops in one building, date to the 15th century. They were remodelled in the 17th century and underwent major restoration in 1965.
