"Women have long suffered from gender-based violence and inequality in social structure. However, it was not until we decided to resist that women’s pain was truly seen, and conflicts broken out. The scars of the past are difficult to smooth, and equality is still far in the future, but the emotional strengths that have gathered along the way will take the tide in new directions. I am fortunate to work with other women to defend our power to speak."
