Fructologie, Ou Description Des Arbres Fruitiers

In the work of the Dutch scientist and mathematician Johann Hermann Knoop (1706-1769), the term "pomology" was first used for a separate branch of botany dealing with fruit. The French edition describes and illustrates a total of 21 fruit species in many varieties known in the mid-18th century.
