Pastel on a cardboard from 1904. The motif comes from the polychrome of the Franciscan church in Krakow, made in 1895. Wyspiański repeatedly repeated elements of the polychrome or stained glass designs on separate paintings, which were simply to decorate the interiors of his friends' houses. The Płock "Country Madonna" is therefore a kind of "original replica", it was intended for a doctor friend of Wyspiański, prof. Julian Nowak.
