description of the project: SÃO BENTO is history, is many stories! Stories of passage, of departures and arrivals, of joys and farewells. It is a place of work and routines and, undeniably, a symbol of past modernity and tradition, rituals and more. And the (its) atrium of tiles of Jorge Colaço, is still the registry of heroes, of ancestors, of many and many peoples, many people.
ESPIGAR NAS GENTES (in english: gathering in the people) is a break from all of this and a hard climb up to Rua da Madeira and down to Rua Cimo de Vila. It is to find Largo da Rua Chã and follow Rua do Loureiro, going through all the alleys and crossroads that cross the road. It is a learning by searching and rummaging, it is a call to discovery, to observation, to listening to what is this (almost) invisible place of the city.
ESPIGAR NAS GENTES is the driving of renowned portuguese illustrators, in this incessant and inconstant recognition, for an updated portrait of the lives of this whole place, today's stories, customs, uses, smells and tastes and everything else. Is perceived in this territory.
ESPIGAR NAS GENTES will be a celebrated portrait of São Bento Rail Station, who will take pride in the streets and trains of this place. ESPIGAR NAS GENTES is an initiative integrated in the extended LOCOMOTIVA project, promoted by PORTO LAZER.
