Koon Creek

Born in Dallas, Bassett studied with Frank Reaugh, W. R. Leigh, at the Art Students League, and at the National Academy of Design, New York. He was a member of the Southern States Art League, the Dallas Art Association, and the Frank Reaugh Art Club. Bassett may have been working with the Dallas Museum of Natural History at Koon Creek, a hunt club southeast of Dallas, when he painted this image.
