Seal Rock Storm is one such work, illustrating a seascape of the coast of Rhode Island. Seal Rock is in the Ocean off Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, about a quarter mile out from the shore. This is one of very few seascapes the artist has painted. The thick layering of paint remains, with a more fluid brushstroke that highlights the waves crashing over the rocks in the shallower waters. Rich blues and greens contrast with the deep grays and blacks to enhance the drama of the roiling sea. Along the lower right panel, WalkingStick has overlain patterns from Pequot basketry. The Pequot people are native to the region of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
