The armchairs are among the most important pieces of the Quirinale collections. They date back to the mid-1700s, come from Parma and could be the work of French cabinetmakers active at the court of Don Filippo di Borbone. Duke of Parma from 1748 to 1765 Don Filippo, with his wife Louise-Elizabeth daughter of King Louis XV, introduced many aspects of the French culture of the time into the small Emilian duchy, with results in the artistic field that can also be appreciated in these valuable artifacts .
