Celestial globes show the position of the stars in the sky as viewed from Earth. This majestic example was designed by Vincenzo Coronelli, considered to be one of the world’s greatest globe makers. It was made in 1693 and is the largest of Coronelli’s commercially produced globes, at 108 cm in diameter. Its engravings helped the user to identify the different constellations.
