Adolf Dressler was the most important landscape painter for the Lower Silesia region, he was a precursor of outdoor painting. He was born in Wrocław and additionally studied in Frankfurt am Main. He conducted the first Wrocław landscape painting class. The presented painting shows the painter's favorite type of themes wich was a coppice in a forest, impossible to locate in a specific way. In the painting, the artist combines a realistic representation of nature with the romantic mood of the presented scene.
