Portrait of Ninth Rank Civil Official Couple

This is a portrait of ninth tank civil official couple. When their husbands wore their official, semiformal attire (jifu), Chinese ladies typically wore a surcoat and heavily ornamented skirt over trousers or leggings. The lady's surcoat opened down the front and could be fitted with a rank badge on the front and back like a bufu.
