Glyptodon is one of the extinct giant mammals, looking similar to an armadillo. Its dome-shaped body was covered by thick bony plates. It was omnivorous, eating insects and plants. Glyptodon lived in North and South America during the Pleistocene (between 2 million and 15,000 years ago).
