The veiled nude woman in this acrylic on paper is painterly balanced by what Eileen’s reviewers and collectors have simply referred to as her “wonderful backgrounds.” To Eileen, it is all one. “I’ve never thought about backgrounds,” Eileen said. “A background to me is as important as the foreground in a painting. It is all part of one painting. All part of the total design.” When painting, she worked simultaneously all over the watercolor, or in this case acrylic paper, not simply focusing on one area at a time, but creating, relating, blending, and contrasting as she moved her brushes over the whole.
