Lydia Christine von Ruckteschell studied in Berlin and Dresden from 1880 until 1885. She first exhibited in Tallinn at the Provinzialmusem in May 1886 and was favourably reviewed by the Baltic German artist Theodor Albert Sprengel.
At least from 1907 she lived in Dresden, having escaped from the Russian revolution of 1905, and died there in 1936.
