303 is one of six cars donated by Connecticut Company when streetcar service ended in 1948, but cars could still be delivered to Branford on active track. Branford kindly stored several cars for Seashore until they could be collected. The two Connecticut museums were also given a number of cars. This second open car in the collection would be a unique item in the tourist service. The early Brill open cars are top of the line, of which all others are imitations. Of the several cars in that grant from ConnCo, No. 303 is the sturdiest and most majestic. Bril127G trucks are being sought because Car 303's original trucks had been swapped for the Standard 0-50s on most of the other cars in the ConnCo group, with the thought that it would minimize the kinds of equipment in the Museum. Good streetcar company thinking, but Seashore is about historic preservation. In that situation equipment selection and placement should be as close to original as possible. No. 615 was number conflict with Portland Birney, so this car is designated by original number, 303. bm&mvp
