Within a kilometer of the oldest Portuguese Church of Eastern India, built in 1599 AD, and only two hundred meters from the classic Imambara at Hooghly, stands the “Jubilee” Railway Bridge, opened by Lord Dufferin, Viceroy and Governor General of India, in 1887, during the Silver Jubilee year of the reign of Queen Victoria, then the Empress of India.
