A Journey That Wasn't (2006), the film in the collection, includes the analysis of the principle according to which fiction can be the necessary expedient for the explanation of reality, making it possible to accept what otherwise it is considered not credible. Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, who elaborates this concept in The Adventures of Gordon Pym, Huyghe investigated the conditions relating to the birth of a story. Like the protagonist of the novel, the artist went to the Antarctic, after learning that global warming in the polar area is making lands not yet explored visible, perhaps inhabited by animals characterized by unexpected mutations. The film describes the sailing trip made by Huyghe and a group of artists, focusing on the encounter with the new island and presenting the fleeting appearance of an albino penguin. In the editing, the sequences set at the South Pole alternate with those relating to a musical show in Central Park, New York.
