The lotus presentation scene is from the chapel of Iyi-mery (G6020) at Giza, which was one of the principal burial grounds for elite officials during the Old Kingdom period. The scene, from the south wall of the third chamber, depicts Iyi-mery's father, Shepseskafankh seated within a kiosk being presented with a lotus flower by Iyi-mery. The tomb of Iyi-mery was one of the most colourful and well preserved Old Kingdom mastabas that was easily accessible to early travellers. Graffiti on the south wall of the third chamber indicates that the tomb was visited frequently during the nineteenth century, and there are frequent references to the imagery in the tombs in the writings of early travellers.
