Anatoly Nikiforovich Yar-Kravchenko was a Soviet artist and portraitist who specialized in graphic art. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Leningrad under I. Brodsky, who, when the term ended, used to “send his pupils off to paint the wonderful sons of our motherland” (A. Yar-Kravchenko). Yar-Kravchenko painted the first graphic portrait of N. A. Ostrovsky during the author’s lifetime.
