THE CORONATION CARPET TAKES SHAPE. AW/MR Two hundred men and women have been working for months now at the Glasgow factory of James Templeton and Co., on the making of the Coronation Carpet for the Coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey. The carpet, which is seventeen feet wide and 173 feet long, is of blue and gold set off by heraldic designs and priceless tapestries, and has been manufactured without seam in a single piece. When finished at the end of April, it will be rolled up and brought to London by sea. Photo shows - As the carpet is rolled up, the girls brush both sides free from dust and pieces. A picture during the making of a section of the carpet at the Glasgow factory. Fox March 10th. 1937. Industry - Carpets
