Eugenio Lucas Velázquez was a late romantic painter and pupil at the Madrid Academy, kwon as a personal follower of Velázquez and Goya, mainly in his paintings on canvas. However, in his drawings, show us other differents styles –abstract or realistic– and themes: cityscapes, landscapes or genre. This view of Venice was made during a trip in the summer of 1868 along the coast of France, Monaco, Italy and Switzerland.
