This engraving was published in 'A new display of the beauties of England; : or A description of the most elegant or magnificent public edifices, royal palaces, noblemen's and gentlemen's seats, and other curiosities, natural or artificial' by Robert Goadby.
It shows the entrance to Peak Cavern, the largest natural cave entrance in the British Isles. The cave was known as the Devil's Arse and appears in William Camden's 'Britannia' under that name in 1586. Its name was changed to Peak Cavern in 1880, for Queen Victoria's visit.
