A young woman is standing by a grape tree heavy with fruits. She is holding in her right hand a freshly-picked bunch of grapes and is supporting the plant with her left arm. The traditional motif of "a beauty under a tree" is used in this painting. In the background behind the little girls seated near the woman is a fantastic landscape with a Shinto shrine gate. Since the motifs of grapes and the beauty-under-a-tree have traditionally been used to symbolize fertility since ancient times, this painting can be also interpreted as symbolic of fertility, but with a religious nuance.
