Aala (Wall niche)

This aala was built in a wall facing the entrance of a bedroom. Prints of gods and goddesses were placed inside and this aala was used as a shrine. The top of the projected frame around the aala was used to keep various household objects. The family alternately called this wall niche a taakh.
