A number of household appliance made of shell were excavated many prehistoric sites across jeju. It included personal ornaments such as bangles with a hole & necklace and daily use tool such as arrowheads & knives among those shell tools. This shell knife made with abalone shell was excavated at the Gwakjiri shell mound site in Jeju. Discoveries show that the prehistoric settlers in jeju favored using large hard shells such as abalone to manufacture tools with sharp points and edges probably because iron was rare and stone was hard to manufacture so efficient tools as the shell tools.
