One of the most beautiful species of the family saturniids, as well as the largest urodele saturniidae in Asia. The larvae feed on the leaves of Liquidambar formosana. The appearance of males and females varies greatly, and the males are more colorful. As a result, they have been mistakenly recognized as two different species.
