Large drum, goblet-shaped, single skin membrane braced to wooden pegs with bark fibre.
Adowa drums are played by both master-drummers and drummer troups, to accompany dances or summon an audience for announcements. The goblet shaped wooden body has a hide skin laced onto large pegs. Changing the peg position allows the drummer to adjust the skin's tension and so adjust the sound.
