Statuette of Aesculapius, god of medicine. The divinity, who is shown in a frontal position, has lost his bearded head, part of his arm and the right hand in which he would have been holding the serpent-entwined rod. A copy of a Late Hellenistic creation based on a 4th-century BC model. It was discovered during the 1968-1970 excavations of the “frigidarium” (cool zone) in the southern baths of the Roman villa of Els Munts (Altafulla), near Tarraco.
