This book was compiled by Jeong Yak-yong (pen-name: Dasan/1762-1836) during his exile in Gangjin. It contains more than 2,000 Chinese characters, with four characters forming each phrase, similarly to the mode of compilation of the Thousand Chinese Character Classic. The characters were handwritten by Jeong Dae-beon, one of his grandsons at a study here in Majae Village, the hometown of Jeong Yak-yong, in 1873.
