The collection of UK AIDS Quilts were made between 1989 and 1996 to commemorate friends, lovers and family members who passed away from an AIDS related illness during this time. You can zoom in to some of the specific details listed below.
The top left panel remembers Eddie through an embroidered letter from his Mum which reads 'My son, My son, Now you are gone / My memories of you / Still linger on, My thoughts are with you everyday / Ever since you passed away, Love you always, Mum.'
The top middle panel has the embroidered words 'IN THE NAME OF LOVE LOVE NEVER DIES S♡S . They wished to remain anonymous.
The panel on the left above the bottom panel has a green background with the text 'CAN YOU HANDLE IT?' with the name Shanon / Sharon Redd in red text below.
The bottom left corder remembers 'Jiggets'. It has a Hibernian Football Club scarf, flag and logo stitched into the quilt and is backed onto a red gingham background.
The top right panel remembers Chris Chester Kirby. It was created by Chris' friend Simon Walder using floral fabric to represent the flowers and plants Chris loved. He is remembered for his love of travel, his loyalty and generosity. It is signed by Samson & Delilah (Simon's cats who Chris would often mind), Asher, Ishmael, Roy, Visha, Folly (Chris' best friend), Mark, Tony, Damien, Carl (Chris' brother), Helen, Laura & Katie.
The bottom right panel remembers Patrick / Packy. It shows the years dates they lived and depicts a cross gravestone with flowers in the sunshine. In the bottom corner it has the quote 'I am the resurection and the Life'.
