The project promoted by the Alfarería Melchor Tito, in collaboration with the Factum Foundation, has revived a centuries-old Hispano-Moorish kiln in Úbeda that had been inactive for more than 15 years. The Tito craftsmen, father and son, spent more than a year making traditional pieces, reactivating ancestral techniques and preserving an intangible heritage in danger of extinction. This effort has resulted in a collection of unique and exclusive pieces, with the collaboration of the renowned artist Rachid Koraïchi, who worked in the workshop to combine Islamic tradition with local pottery.
The process was documented in an audio-visual recording, culminating in a documentary that covers all the stages of the creation and firing of the pieces. The initiative was widely disseminated through the media and live events, resulting in the travelling exhibition The Poetics of Fire and Earth: The Rebirth of an Arab Kiln. This exhibition has attracted thousands of visitors and will be displayed in prestigious cultural institutions, bringing Úbeda's culture and tradition to an international audience.
