Black and white photograph of five allied commanders posed together at the 1921 Liberty Memorial site dedication ceremony on Nov. 1, 1921. Pictured are General Baron Jacques of Belgium, General Armando Diaz of Italy, Marshall Ferdinand Foch of France, General John Pershing of the United States, and Admiral David Beatty of the United Kingdom.
More than 100,000 people gathered to see these supreme Allied commanders dedicate the site of the Liberty Memorial (today known as the National WWI Museum and Memorial.) This was the first time in history the five were together in one place.
