The collection of inclusions kept in the Amber Museum is one
of the largest and scientifically most valuable collections in the world – it
contains around 15,000 inclusions. The remains of 48 conifer and 194 deciduous
tree species have been found in Baltic amber and desribed. The most commonly
found plant remains in amber are leaves, conifer needles, flowers and their
parts, while twigs and fruit are rarer. Apart from the fine hairs of oak
trusses, plant inclusions are very rare. Inclusions of plant origin are found
only in 1 out of 1,000 pieces of amber with an inclusion.
