The plump cheeked female figure and the long, flowing, continuous line of this drawing are stylistically similar to a couple of Cesari's late red-chalk drawings from about 1630. Cesari evidently changed his mind about the positioning of the figure and the changes can be seen under the rapidly sketched shading.
