André Bazin

André Bazin (1918 - 1948). A key figure in the founding of Cahiers du cinéma in 1951, André Bazin was an influential critic whose theories on realism and mise-en-scène profoundly marked the journal. His approach influenced the future New Wave, which found in his writings a justification for auteur cinema. Under his impetus, Cahiers became an essential space for debate on the evolution of cinema.
