The anointment of Queen Rambhai Barni was the first investiture of the queen consort of Siam. It was the adaptation of western tradition of monogamy as opposed to traditional Thai tradition which the monarch has many wives and concubines.

In this picture, King Prajadhipok, sitting on the Bhadrapith Throne during the coronation ceremony, was pouring holy water from the white conch shell, the symbol of holiness according to Hinduism, on the head of Queen Rambhai Barni.
