Kenyan artist Mary Ogembo uses art to demystify the African woman, and to tear down stereotypes by depicting beauty reflected in their every-day activity.
Mary started her artist career in 1998 after receiving her Diploma in Fine Art from the Creative Art Centre in Nairobi. Based at the GoDown Arts Centre between 2004 and 2008, Mary’s tenacity and commitment to her craft has seen her work exhibited in spaces around the world in 2004. During her career, Mary has had numerous opportunities for residencies, curatorship, and media exposure.
