Apollo Moon Boot

Specifically designed for walking on the surface of the Moon, the lunar overshoe fit over the astronaut's regular boot. Stepping into the unknown, this added a layer of protection against the vacuum of space should an object cut the astronaut's boot during a lunar excursion. The artifact on display was utilized for astronaut training purposes. This is the type boot responsible for the famous footprints frozen in time on July 20, 1969.
