The development consists of nine Late style shophouses (105, 107 & 109 Jalan Sultan & 54 to 64 (even nos.) Aliwal Street) and a former printing house, the Al-Ahmadiah Press (101 Jalan Sultan). Established in 1920 by nobility from the Natuna Islands in Indonesia, the printing house was part of a thriving publications industry dealing with Islamic and Malay literature that was centred in Kampong Glam.
