Urban Redevelopment Authority
Singapore, Singapore

This Anglo-Malay style bungalow was built in 1929 by Wong Lee Swee, a stock exchange broker. Supported on piers above the ground as a guard against flooding, it follows the basic Malay house plan: a serambi (veranda) in front followed by the rumah ibu (house core), and the dapur (kitchen) at the rear. Prominent features of the bungalow include the porte-cochère with Corinthian columns as well as the pediment that bears the name of the house in Chinese – 我園 (Wo Yuan) which means My Garden.

For more photographs of the bungalow, visit the Photo Gallery on URA's My Conservation Portal.
