Singapore, Singapore

The two-storey shophouses (Nos. 5 & 9 to 21 (odd nos.)) located along this street were built during the earlier half of the 20th century as middle class family residences. The Late style façades have rich ornamentations reflecting influences from the East and West.

To introduce diversity in treatment of the interior spaces, the enlightened owner engaged different architects for each shophouse on the same fixed and modest budget. While original architectural features like the windows as well as wall tiles from Belgium were retained and restored, each shophouse showcases a distinctive and refreshing character internally.
