Armand Marseille Doll

Doll with an bisque socket head, and the back of the neck marked “1894 AM DEP 2/0”. The first number refers to the doll's series or model. In the case of A. Marseille's dolls it tends to coincide with the date the model began to be produced and not strictly with the production date of individual dolls; “DEP” indicates the patent and “2/0” indicates the doll's size.

The eyes are made of black glass with drawn eyelashes. The mouth is open with moulded teeth in the top part. The body is in wood pulp -- also called composition-- with unarticulated hands. It is dressed in a white, slightly fitted batiste with pleats coming down from both sides of the neckline on the front and ending below the hip; the back has them only on the centre of the back. It is completed with a flounce on the bottom in a Swiss embroidered trim with floral geometric-pattern openwork. The hat is in crêpe and embroidered tulle lace imitating Malina embroidery.
