The back and seat of this armchair are covered with Brussels tapestries showing representations of the months of July (back) and August (seat). It is part of a set of six armchairs on which are depicted genre scenes from the life of peasants, sailors and fishermen representing the twelve months of the year. The chairs were set up in this room on the occasion of the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873, but nothing has yet been discovered about their provenance.
