The ARP Soloist (lower instrument) was created to be a reasonably priced live performance synthesizer. It was updated and renamed the ARP Pro Soloist, offering the player more presets and better tuning stability. Originally aimed at the home organ market, these instruments became popular with bands like Genesis, Kansas, Parliament-Funkadelic and Steely Dan. After another upgrade, the unit was rebadged the ARP Pro/DGX.
