At the time I began to feel a bit sorry for the police in Onslow Rd. They got hammered. They chased the protestors and throwers up Onslow Rd. Then they were chased back down the road again while being pelted by stakes and volcanic rocks wrenched from the fences and gardens of Onslow Rd houses. Previously, during the baton charges along Marlborough St, people standing on the front yards and verges would be batoned and harassed randomly by the Red Squad. In Onslow Rd they were too busy dodging rocks, stakes, sticks and anything else to hand to attend to all of us onlookers.
