Asian and Pacific Islander Americans on Route 66: Amboy Lion

A lion, sculpted out of stone, stands alone in the desert along Route 66. They mysteriously appeared with unknown origins in 2013. Made of marble and roughly six feet tall, these statues are known as Foo Dogs and are symbols of protection where visitors have attached their own interpretation and meaning to the statues.
