Attic Black-Figure Neck Amphora Fragment (comprised of 13 Joined Fragments)

Part of body and neck (composed of fourteen fragments). The neck is decorated with a band of addorsed palmette and lotus, with a double-chain across the middle. There is a ridge (painted red) at the base of the neck, with alternating red and black tongues below. A red line runs beneath these, followed by a band of black.
On the body, from left: circular line, perhaps from a missing handle. A warrior wearing a high crested (black and white) Corinthian helmet faces right, with a shield on his leading left arm (seen in profile, white with red rim). Below, small part of the chariot cart (?), within which stands a charioteer holding reins. He wears a white-marked nebris, with a red belt. On his back is a Boeotian shield seen in profile, decorated with a frontal face of Dionysos (ivy in hair, red beard). The charioteer has short hair, red in front, with a carefully rendered beard. His head overlaps the uprasied arm of a warrior striding to right, who wears a Corinthian helmet with a high crest, cuirass, patterned chitoniskos and a greave (outlined with white dots) on his leading leg. On his left arm, he carries a Boeotian shield, decorated with white ivy leaves. His opponent is scarcely preserved, just part of the helmet (Corinthian, high crested) and shield. The two warriors attack one another with spears.
