Photograph of the auditorium of the old Abbey Theatre, 1904. The Mechanic's Theatre was converted by Joseph Holloway in 1904 allowing for an auditorium seating 562 patrons between balcony, stalls and benches. The traditional 'D' shaped auditorium was famed for its acoustics. One of the two copper mirrors commissioned by Annie Horniman for the opening night of the theatre from Youghal Metal works is visible on the balcony wall.
