This illustration, labelled Green Tree snake, Dendrophis punctulata (Dendrelaphis punctulatus), is of a non-venemous snake found in Australia and Papua.

This book, 'The Snakes of Australia' aimed to describe all known Australian snakes, and was created by Gerard Kreft, one of the first professional Australian herpetologists. At the time of this publication, Kreft worked at the Australian Museum.

The 12 hand coloured lithographs were created by sisters Harriet Scott and Helena Forde. This plate is number 4 (IV).

The Snakes of Australia was printed in a limited edition of 700.
