Azimuth Notebook for Viking Lander 1 SOL0: This image is of the notebook page with the resulting image from the previous Azimuth chart. It is in fact the first image taken of the surface of Mars. This original artifact, in the VMMEPP collection, is singularly unique and was hand created by the Viking Imaging Team and assigned Interns, and was prodcued prior to the finished high resolution prints that wer emade public. This was taken on SOL 0, or the first day of the Viking surface mission.
